The most ancient houses of people in the Nile valley were holes and caves. Sometimes people also built sheds and tents with the help of branches and fell of animals. Later the first reed shacks appeared that were covered with clay. With the formation of the class society poor people lived in such houses during millenniums.

The main principles of house, temples and tombs decoration and building were also used later in the building of Egypt during the epoch of slavery. With the invention of airbricks the first tombs in the form of rectangle appeared. Such tombs were the property of the richest people but other not so rich ones were still buried in ordinary holes. With the further division of the society, differences in the form of house and tombs appeared.
